Science may be skeptical, but millions of people put aphrodisiacs to the test annually on the day of love.

February 14 is Valentine’s Day, and chefs like Restaurant 62‘s Jeff Massey look forward to these events for the chance to do something adventurous with their service. Restaurant 62, like most restaurants in Abbotsford, will be offering a romance-themed menu – and aphrodisiacs abound.

Locally sourced dishes starring avocado, toasted nuts, asparagus and figs are intended to set the mood for two, either by affecting the senses with their appearance or smell, or altering the chemistry in the body via nutrients that increase blood flow.

Whether you truly believe in the effects, or simply think it is a state of mind, food and romance have always gone hand-in-hand.

If you are planning to treat that special someone, it’s best to act fast, as most establishments require reservations.
