Once again, it is time to make up some Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Boxes.
Operation Christmas Child was started in 1990. In 1993, Operation Christmas Child grew and was adopted by Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian organization run by Franklin Graham.
To date, Operation Christmas Child has collected and distributed over 100 million shoe box gifts worldwide. In 2014, Canadians donated more than 700,474 Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes for hurting children around the world.
Members of Barriere’s Bethany Baptist Church have been organizing ‘shoe box parties’ for the last several years, and every year, they invite the whole community to get involved.
Last year they made up 51 boxes; they hope to do at least as many this year.
Anyone wishing to help out should call Julie Hetu at 250-672-9386 for details, and then come to the church on Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., ready to help fill shoe boxes. The event is expect to run untill 12 noon.
