Diane of the Funky Dog Spa will be hosting this annual community event where all proceeds go the Spotted Dog Rescue (minimum $10 donation).  Santa will be at the Dog Spa Saturday December 3 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to meet kids of all ages, adults, and pets too.  Come one – come all for your one of a kind photo with Santa, enjoy treats, meet people from the community, and support a good cause…for paws.

The Spotted Dog Rescue  is located in the Blaeberry and operated by two extremely dedicated dog-lovers:  Ned and Rachelle Johnson.  Over the years they have helped many dogs find new loving forever homes, reunite with worried owners, or live out their lives as permanent rescues at the shelter.  The Spotted Dog has helped hundreds of dogs and their families in Golden and Area A through all sorts of animal related situations; they are a caring resource for lost, injured, or abandoned dogs.

But it doesn’t stop there.  The couple also takes dogs to interact with groups within the community; lighting up the hearts and faces of locals through animal companionship and the spirit of empathy towards all creatures great and small.  The Rescue Centre also provides strong messaging about the responsibility of owners to spay and neuter their pets, to ensure a good quality of life through population control.

Unwanted, uncared for animals are taken into the sanctuary with open hearts where they are provided a warm, safe environment where they receive a healthy diet, regular stimulation and exercise.

This incentive is so important in our community; showing concern for those who need help.  The Spotted Dog Rescue is passionate and dedicated to creating a better world for people and pets through unconditional love and quality of life.  The support of volunteer dogwalkers and helpful caregivers help to make this dream realistic.  Diane of the Funky Dog Spa has been an amazing advocate for the cause, and is working hard to prepare the Dog Spa for Santa for the fourth year in a row!  She does all this while still beautifying dogs for the holidays and offering great pet-care services.  Partnerships like this prove that our community cares for animal companions.  The duo will continue to foster these values even though they may only get a “Bow-Wow” in return.

Join Santa and friends this Saturday and you can enter to win a free dog grooming session.  If you cannot make it out, you can show your support through in-kind donations of unused dog medications, leashes, dog coats and booties, or a gentle scratch under the chin of your favourite four-legged friend.
