Dana Aljanaby, a UBC student and North Delta resident, has won the grand prize of $5,000 and an internship at Weyerhaeuser in Grande Prairie, Alta. in an first-ever online contest put on by the Forest Products Association of Canada.
Aljanaby, at UBC working on her bachelor of science in Forest Resources Management, won the Green Dream internship social media contest, which invited students to apply for four-month paid summer jobs by submitting a video application and getting online votes.
The contest is part of the forest products industry’s push to inform young people about career options. Their website www.thegreenestworkforce.ca also connects students with opportunities.
