Seedlings, herbs, bulbs can be dropped off for annual event

It is almost time for the Kent Street Activity Centre’s annual Plant and Bake Sale.

On Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m. until noon, delicious homemade baking from the Kent Street Kitchen will also be available for purchase at great prices.

Any donations of your extra outdoor plants, seedlings, herbs or bulbs would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off the day before between 4 and 6 p.m.

If you are a low-income senior, and looking for some advice on a legal matter, contact the Kent Street Activity Centre at 604-541-2231 to book a free appointment with Al Benson, a local lawyer that volunteers the first Wednesday of the month.

The next available date is May 4.

Every Friday afternoon, from 1-3 p.m., you are welcome to join Kent Street Activity Centre’s Stitch & Chat group and work on your own needlecraft, knitting or quilting project in the company of others.

This is a great opportunity to socialize and share ideas.

Pick up a guest pass at the front office and try out this activity group or one of many others at the centre before becoming a White Rock Recreation and Culture member.

The Kent Street Choristers present their annual spring concert, For the Love of Music, on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.

This beautiful and entertaining performance will be certain to bring a smile to your face.

Tickets are available from any choir member or at the Kent Street Activity Centre for $15.

On Thursday, April 27, 1-3 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre, become inspired at an informative presentation on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Whether you are interested in walking the 800-km Camino yourself or just want to experience the journey through the eyes of another, this engaging presentation will teach you everything you need to know about this amazing part of the world.

Join Kent Street Coffee Shop’s Chef Pat Faulkner on Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the centre’s kitchen where you will learn about the unique ingredients that go into the curries of Thailand and where to shop for them.

Do you enjoy social dancing in the company of friends?

Drop in to the Kent Street Activity Centre on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-10:30 p.m. for dancing to live music.

Buy your tickets at the door (open at 7 p.m.). Refreshments served midway.

This week, dance the night away to the great sounds of the Silver Stars.
