Kent Street Activity Centre is now accepting donations for the local food bank. Most needed items are baby food, canned fish, canned vegetables, whole grain pastas, brown rice, canned fruit, fruit juices and peanut butter. One of the most popular fitness programs offered by White Rock Recreation and Culture is Stretch & Strength. December is drop-in month so be sure to purchase a fitness pass and drop in to any Stretch and Strength class. Strengthen your muscles and improve flexibility using light weights and resistance bands. Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. at Kent Street Centre, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. at the White Rock Community Centre and Tuesdays, 3:45 p.m. at the White Rock Community Centre.
Osteofit is a safe and effective strength, balance and co-ordination program specifically designed for those with osteoporosis and osteopenia, and those at risk of falling. This seven session program runs Tuesdays/Thursdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Centre for Active Living. Call 604-541-2199 to register.
Basic Gym Routine is a Group fitness training program for two to four people at the Centre for Active Living. Learn a basic fitness routine (cardio and weight training) that you can do at any gym beginning Friday Nov. 27. Call 604-541-2199 to register or for more information.
What are you doing to reduce your risk and improve your driving? Attend a Senior Driving workshop on Thursday Dec. 3, 9-11 a.m. at the White Rock Community Centre. Assess your driving skills and habits, update your knowledge of vehicle safety features and road regulations. Co-sponsored with White Rock Community Policing. Christmas on the Peninsula returns to the White Rock Community Centre and other locations throughout White Rock and South Surrey on Saturday, Nov. 28 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Get into the holiday spirit and enjoy all the various activities including a Christmas market, live entertainment, children’s crafts, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and more.
