This year is the International Year of the Forests, and to celebrate the Sustainable Environment Network Society (SENS) is organizing a panel to examine Vernon’s “amenity’ landscape in light of local forest planning strategies for the next 50 years.
The event, taking place Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Schubert Centre, will feature panel member Dr. Romella Glorioso.
She will lead the discussion on the negative impacts of amenity migration, and answer questions on how we manage our forests when people migrate to live in smaller communities because of amenities offered, and how peak oil and climate change fit in.
Glorioso has two decades of professional experience in planning and managing human communities and their natural ecologies in Canada, the U.S., and elsewhere.
The discussion is free and everyone is welcome.
