The 11th annual Kinsmen fishing derby will try and break its own record of participants again this year after over 80 people took part in the event in 2010. This year the event will be on January 29 and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual derby will be held again on the ice of Lake Windermere and will give up to 100 competitors the chance to catch the longest fish out of the Taynton Bay area.
Registration will be at Ray Ray’s Beach Pub at 8 a.m. on the day of the event and it will be $35 per participant. There are no age restrictions for the derby and all ages are welcomed by the organizers.
As in previous years there will be lots of prizes at the derby as well as cash prizes for the three longest non-game fish caught.
According to event chair Steve Kuffler last year’s longest fish was 178 inches though that, of course, cannot be confirmed.
