Spring is nearly here and with the new season comes many new programs and activities.
POW (Picture our World) is a six-week project for youth that will help participants develop basic photography skills while encouraging connections in our community.
The program began Feb. 7 and runs until Mar 14, 4-5:30 p.m. at Camp Alexandra. Call 604-538-5060, ext. 23 to register.
And coming soon – POW for supported adults, a digital story-telling project provided in partnership with the Surrey Writers Foundation and the Crescent Beach Photography Club.

At the end of the project the youth group and the supported adults will present an exhibition of their work.
n Our Children’s Centre at Kensington Prairie is now up and running and there are still some spaces available for ages three to five and school-age children.
This community-based, licensed childcare program is based on the Reggio Emilia approach, which views parents, teachers and children as co-learners.

n Building Boys is a hands-on after-school group for boys in Grade 5-6 that introduces independent and co-operative activities to build on personal strengths.
Cost is $25 for six weeks, begining this month.

n Parent Connect is a free program for parents/caregivers of school-age children that explores a variety of topics on parenting and family life.
Coming up – Barbara Coloroso’s “Watch and Talk” video series Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. March 2, April 6 and May 4 at 15455 Vine Ave., White Rock.
After the video we’ll share thoughts, ideas and experiences in an effort to be the best parents we can be.

n Our Growing Green Gardening Group is coming out of winter hibernation and will begin meeting again on Thursdays, 12-3:30 p.m., starting March 3.
