Engineer Paul Blanchard has been presented with one of Canada’s top professional recognitions, the Engineers Canada Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service.
Based in Stantec’s Surrey office, Blanchard has built his career as an electrical engineer for nearly 40 years.
He has worked with Stantec throughout British Columbia on a diverse spectrum of project types including water/wastewater, transit, power and healthcare.
He has been involved on numerous boards, committees, panels and service as a mentor. He is the past president of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC), where he also served on the council, and currently sits on APEGBC’s Fairness Panel, Discipline Committee and Benevolent Fund.
“To be recognized on a national level by Engineers Canada is a tremendous honor,” said Blanchard. “Being involved with professional activities is rewarding and I find it encouraging to see so many young Engineers and Engineers-in-training volunteering their time and talent sitting on Branch Executives in committees.”
Since 1972 the Engineers Canada Awards have been presented annually to outstanding professionals and projects to highlight the contribution and excellence of Canada’s engineers. The Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service recognizes exceptional service and dedication to the engineering profession in Canada through our country’s technical and consulting associations.
Engineers Canada is the national organization representing the 12 provincial and territorial engineering regulation associations.
This year’s awards honored eight individuals and projects from across Canada.
The Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service has been presented to one individual each year since 1986.
