The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has awarded Surrey doctor as one of Canada’s top 2014 Family Physicians of the Year.
Dr. Parmjit Sohal is the recipient of the Reg L. Perkin Award, and is among 10 doctors – one from each province – who will be recognized at a ceremony in Quebec City on Nov. 11.
The award recipients were nominated by their peers, colleagues, and the CFPC’s 10 provincial chapters for outstanding patient care, significant contributions to the health and well-being of their local community, and the commitment to family medicine, teaching and research.
“I am honoured that my passion for family medicine, teaching, clinical research, and community health has been recognized,” said Sohal. “It is a privilege to be a family physician who can provide comprehensive and compassionate care to the whole family. I am proud to be a family physician in Canada.”
After earning a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan and a medical degree from the University of Alberta, Dr.Sohal completed his family medicine residency at the University of British Columbia in 1997.
