The Intercultural Society of the Central Okanagan presents:

‘The Beat Goes On’…inside and among us, exploring ethnic heritage through percussion.

The Beat Goes On workshops are on May 11, 12 and 13. Register for one of the three workshops and purchase a $10 value ethnic lunch for $5.

Everyday there is a different workshop and a different menu.

Do something different for lunch… Lets learn & celebrate culture together.

Workshops will end in a joint evening concert, on May 16. The Okanagan’s own Barefoot Caravan and a variety of drum styles, like Taiko, Middle Eastern will take part.

We want to develop community through the recognition of our common means of communication, through music.

The artists conducting the workshops will teach about the use of their drum through its specific cultural lens, demonstrate its use and provide instruments for learning how to play. You will observe, learn and most importantly, actively interact in a hands-on musical experience.

Venue: Centre Culturel Francophone de l’Okanagan- downtown Kelowna at 702 Bernard Ave.

Lunch & learn workshops are May 11 to 13 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Registration is necessary andis open until Thursday May 7.
