In celebration of a 20 year milestone since he published his first book, local author and photographer, Graeme Pole, has just announced the release of his third, fully revised edition of his book, Walks & Easy Hikes in the Canadian Rockies.

Boasting 151 walks and hikes and written for the “causal walker and hiker,” Pole describes the many trails of the Rockies accompanied by stunning colour photographs and maps. The hikes range from Banff to Jasper, Yoho and Waterton, the Kootenay Plains and Recreation Area to the Kootenay’s, Mt. Robson, Akamina-Kishinena and Kananaskis Country.

For Pole, who has been exploring the Canadian Rocky peaks and trails for more than 30 years, he has enjoyed his passion of writing about human history, the natural history of Western Canada and the many great hikes and trails since 1989. To date, he has published 11 books with cumulative sales of more than 300,000 copies.

His latest publication promises to be another great read and guide for those who love to trek in the Canadian peaks.

“The hike descriptions are packed with comprehensive information on history, geology, wildlife and wildflowers,”  he said.

While Pole enjoys life in the Kispiox with his wife and three children he is also a paramedic with the Hazelton ambulance service and very active within the community. In addition to being a dedicated father, husband and resident, outside of his home throughout the past two decades Pole’s books have become mainstays for both visitors to the Rockies as well as residents.

Published by Mountain Vision Publishing, which is also a creation of Pole’s, the books can be purchased at most bookstores or online at mountainvision.ca.
