Times are a-changin’

Our ‘brand’ for the last 100 years has been ‘Camp Alexandra,’ a name that has always been well recognized and well loved.
But we are so much more than that now.

Our ‘brand’ for the last 100 years has been ‘Camp Alexandra,’ a name that has always been well recognized and well loved.

But we are so much more than that now.

With our change of name in 2009 to Alexandra Neighbourhood House (circa 1894), we came full circle, honouring our past while stepping firmly into our future.

Today, we are a vital, thriving, forward-thinking neighbourhood house serving residents of the Semiahmoo Peninsula from three different locations, in White Rock, Morgan Crossing and Crescent Beach.

Join us on our journey.

n Fall is usually a time of new beginnings, and this year is no exception as we gear up for a year of programs and events for all ages, some new and some old favorites.

Our Alexandra Children’s Centres are located at Kensington Prairie in Morgan Crossing, and at the Beach House in Crescent Beach. Both locations provide community-based, licensed childcare based on the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, for infant/toddler, ages 3-5 and school-age children. Call 604 541-3273 for more information.

n If you have babies or toddlers, join us at Alexandra Family Place in the Children’s House, where we have been providing families with opportunities for play and making friends for over 95 years. Have fun together, discover together, learn together, laugh together and make friends together. The drop-in is open Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and information on parenting is always available.

n World of Youth is a youth-led project to help integrate new students into their community while learning about other cultures. Everyone in grades 8-12 is welcome. Come to an info meeting Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6-7 p.m. or email worldofyouth1@gmail.com

n If you’re interested in learning how to can and preserve fruits and vegetables, we may be able to help. We’re planning a community kitchen-style program this fall, once produce is ready, on four consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting in mid-September. Leave your name and number at 604-535-0015.

n Our summer block party and summer movie night were so much fun, we’re planning a family fun night for Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6-8 p.m. Join us for a scavenger hunt, games, snacks and lots more.

Call Cindi at 604-538 5060 ext. 23 for more information.
