Sue Lighthall is committed to helping those less fortunate

The Community Dental Access Centre congratulates our committed volunteer dental hygienist Sue Lighthall on her recent award.

Lighthall received a national award from the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association for her commitment to improving the dental health of those less fortunate.

She has consistently volunteered two afternoons per week since October 2012, providing dental hygiene services at the non-profit dental clinic in Vernon.

“Poverty and oral health are very closely linked and I did not have to travel to Third World countries to find dental neglect; it is here in our Canadian cities amongst the disadvantaged of our society,” said Lighthall, when asked about her commitment to volunteering.

If you are a resident of the North Okanagan and are experiencing financial barriers to accessing regular dental care you may qualify as a client at the CDAC. Please call 778-475-7779 for more information.
