Terry Fox ran for 5,373 kms over 143 days.

He ran in the snow, wind, rain and heat.

We all know his story; we know his courage, strength and passion, but did you know that the foundation that continues in his name is one of the most fiscally responsible charities in Canada?

Of every dollar raised at the Terry Fox Run, 84 cents goes directly to cancer research, funding leading edge research projects for all types of cancer.

The Terry Fox Run is put on with a zero budget, so you can imagine how grateful we are for our community’s support.  Whether you have been touched by cancer or never want to be, this is a solid charity to get involved with.

Your involvement is up to you, depending on your time and interests. Perhaps you could help with planning, volunteer on the day (Sunday, Sept. 14) or just come out as a participant. It’s a day to celebrate Terry, remember loved ones, be thankful and support cancer research.

A special appeal to those who have heard the words “You have cancer.”  Please consider joining my husband, Shane, and I as we proudly stand as Terry’s Team Members. We were both diagnosed with cancer at age 34. We have been thankful everyday since for the progress of cancer research, but we all know there is so much more to learn.

All Terry’s Team Members receive a complimentary Terry Fox Run shirt to wear on the day.  We are a symbol of hope—cancer research can make a difference.
