We all know that groceries are costing more and more, and for many the cost of eating ‘out’ is prohibitive.
You arrive home with your monthly food hamper from the Kelowna Community Food Bank.
Included in your allocation are items such as onions, potatoes, carrots, mixed greens, tomatoes, canned soups and vegetables, side dishes, some sauces and dressing, rice, pasta, maybe some lentils, bread and baked goods. The Food Bank can only give what is donated.
Do you know how to combine these ingredients to prepare simple and delicious meals?
The Kelowna Community Food Bank is hosting cooking classes this June.
The Recipe for Success program, a series of four classes, will take place on the Wednesdays in June from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Come and learn about nutrition, food budgeting and cooking at home. Learn some tips and tricks to make your dollar go further.
The program will feature a professional chef, community excursions and ‘hands-on’ meal preparation.
There will also be information from the Canada Food Guidelines and Food Safe programs, with handouts and recipes.
Priority is given to individuals who meet the income and residency criteria for Kelowna Community Food Bank, however, you do not need to be a food bank client to take part. Other interested folks may be included.
Come and take part in an enjoyable and tasty learning experience.
