On Thursday, March 12, the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) kicks off its Walk and Talk Diabetes program in Kelowna. This 10-week program features short talks by health and diabetes experts, followed by a group walk where participants can ask questions, share their experiences and engage with the diabetes community.
“Thanks to generous funding from the Colin & Lois Pritchard Foundation, the CDA is able to offer this program at no charge,” said Glenna Armstrong, CDA branch coordinator for the B.C. Interior. “This program will meet the needs of anyone living with diabetes or prediabetes, or even those who may be caring for someone with diabetes and could benefit from more education and support.”
The program will run every Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. until May 14 and is suitable for any fitness level. The walks can be tailored to meet individual needs and the program is set up to help participants succeed in meeting their healthy living goals.
The walks will be held at various outdoor routes and guest speakers for the series will cover a range of diabetes-related topics, including foot care, healthy snacks, general motivation and more. You can register online or by calling 250-762-9447 or emailing glenna.armstrong@diabetes.ca.
