The North Okanagan Pregnancy Care Centre (NOPCC) invites you to participate in the second annual Walk of Life.
This year’ walk and family fun day takes place Sept. 15 at Polson Park. Walkers will enjoy a barbecue and music in the park, as well as a bouncy castle, face painting and other treats for the kids.
“Whether you walk a meter or a mile, come out for one of summer’s last afternoons of healthy, outdoor family together time,” said Tara Berdan, centre coordinator.
The NOPCC is dedicated to helping women and their partners who are facing unplanned pregnancy, and is also a confidential place to access sexual health services, all under one roof.
“Our trained volunteer support workers provide ongoing one-on-one support, including information about pregnancy options, parenting and referrals to other community services.
“All of our services are completely confidential and free.”
Early next year, NOPCC will expand its services to include medical confirmation of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection screening, assessment and treatment in an environment of care and compassion, where clients can address significant life decisions and explore how their physical health is directly related to their emotional, spiritual and mental well-being.
“We’re about empowering people to develop a positive framework for their lives so they can make healthy choices and decisions that will get them to where they really want to go.”
Walk for Life takes place Sept. 15 at Polson Park, starting at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
“We are so grateful for the support and encouragement we continue to receive from our community,” said Berdan. “Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the centre, so come out and be a part of this year’s walk.”
