Wells Gray treasure hunt winner named

First prize in this year’s Wells Gray World Heritage treasure hunt to Michael Shook

(L-r) TNRD Wells Gray Country director Tim Pennell makes the draw on Friday, Nov. 7, for first prize in this year’s Wells Gray World Heritage treasure hunt while event organizer Trevor Goward and Clearwater Credit Union manager Gina Walchuk look on. Winner of the draw was Michael Shook, a great-grandson of Francis Shook (Emery), one of two sisters who, as young women in 1932, built the historic Bee Farm in what is now Wells Gray Park. The younger Shook won his choice of the Robert Bateman painting of an eagle’s head that Walchuk is holding or a cash prize. The painting was on display at the credit union in Clearwater over the summer.
