Whether you forgot that February 14 was Valentine’s Day and you’re scrambling for a last minute plan, or you are prepared for the big day of romance and have been for weeks, we here at the Arrow Lakes News thought we would suggest a few romantic ideas to do in Nakusp this Friday. Now to those who believe Valentine’s Day is a “Hallmark Holiday” please keep in mind that romance, flowers, chocolate and chick flicks always earn brownie points! And if you’re un-attached, you can always enjoy the day with a friend or someone else special to you! Here are a few of the great things to do for Valentine’s Day.
#1 Community family Valentine’s party
Take the family and head on down to the Nakusp arena for a Valentine’s Day party hosted by the Nakusp Figure Skating Club. From 6-8 p.m. enjoy free skating with a cake skate (cake walk on ice). Refreshments, hotdogs, chocolates and even flowers will be available to purchase. Also enter to win a great raffle basket.
#2 Valentine’s Day movie
Jennifer Chocolates is hosting the movie Chocolat at the Arrow Lakes Theatre at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, or buy a couple’s package, which includes two movie tickets, two hot chocolates and a delicious box of chocolates for $55. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Jennifer Chocolates or at the door.
#3 Halcyon Hot Springs dinner special
Enjoy a three coarse meal out at Halcyon Hot Springs. For $55 per person have a wonderful relaxed evening, with great food. For an extra charge of $20 enjoy an expertly paired bottle of wine to compliment your meal. It’s always a good idea to make reservations and bring your bathing suits.
#4 Nakusp Hot Springs
The Nakusp Hot springs are offering a “sweetheart special.” Couples receive two-for-one admission; with participants being entered in a draw to win ten complimentary passes.
#5 Romantic night in
Grab some steaks and seafood from Cut Rite Meats and make the one you care about a romantic dinner. Add some candles wine and maybe pick up a bouquet of flowers from Overwaitea or order a bouquet from Treasure Trove (made by Designs by Darlene) and you have yourself a stay-in Valentine’s Day success.
So take the family to the arena, a date or a friend to the movie, head out to Halcyon, stay in or take your sweetheart for a dip in the springs. Whatever it is you decide to do, enjoy the day with someone or ones you care about. Happy Valentine’s Day!
