Penelope Ann Turner is a spiritual life coach and motivational speaker. She is currently offering a set of empowerment workshops for those who are ready to implement positive change in their lives. Turner addresses questions people commonly grapple with:

Are you afraid of conflict? Do you hate small talk? Do you feel you don’t fit in, and people don’t understand you, and do you have trust issues? Is it impossible for you to lie, and do you put others’ needs in front of your own?

These are some of the target questions she uses to help potential clients identify trouble areas in their lives and to determine if they are good candidates for her workshops and one-on-one sessions.

The Jamaican born problem solver works with horses as well, and often takes owners and horses through unique journeys together to help them build solid relationships while repairing any past traumas through body work, (which addresses the mind body connection).

Turner has worked with abused horses who have been subjected to heroine and other street drugs as performance enhancers, and cautions, that “unless you are in a meditative state” there is a good chance you will be injured.

“The one thing I say to an animal before we start any work is — you are not allowed to hurt me, that’s the rule,” she told The Observer during a candid interview at the Mielle Meadows Horse Farm in Agassiz. “It’s the same with people,” she laughed.

Other than that she leaves the direction of therapy up to the horses, who will often guide her. Fear of humans is a big concern for them, and it often takes a lengthy amount of time for her to build trust with the animals once they’ve been abused.

“I learned that along with them, I was also walking the path to healing,” she said of her own healing journey after a trying divorce.

According to Turner, people are much the same. Turner has taken her own pain and used her experience of coming back to personal health and wellness spiritually, emotionally, and physically as the building blocks in her work.

Turner will be offering the Defying Gravity workshop on Sunday Nov. 13. The work shop is designed for Extra Sensitive People, or what she calls ESP’s, to help them discover why they have heightened emotions and why they are sensitive to the energy of others, as well as chemicals and food.

Turner purposes to teach ESP’s how to use their intuition and heightened awareness for their greater good and how to achieve better emotional and mental control.

Through her own struggles, Turner, cultivated various techniques to overcome issues associated with heightened sensitivity.

“I know what it is not to be able to trust your own mind — the emotion can be that strong — our individuality is what makes us happy,” she said.

Authenticity has been lost with the careful constructs of society, according to Turner, who believes that by conforming to another’s constructs, we can’t possibly be truly happy.

The second workshop she will be offering is The Anatomy of Trust, on Sunday Feb. 12, 2017 which teaches people how to connect with others and to foster more meaningful relationships in their lives. Turner will teach the art of setting boundaries, specifically, on how others treat you and how you treat yourself.
