One of the top ten winners of World Literacy Canada’s 2016 Write for a Better World writing contest is Natasha Shemeen, a Grade 5 student from Surrey.
Shemeen’s story, along with the stories of the other finalists, were chosen out of roughly 1,000 submissions from across the country, and were hand-picked by 2016 guest judge and 2015 TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award winner Jonathan Auxier.
This year marks the contest’s ninth year encouraging Canadian students to explore ideas of global citizenship through a 400-word creative writing entry. The contest is sponsored by TD Bank.
