UPDATE (12:30 p.m., April 27): 100 Mile House Fire Rescue responded to a call for a small wildfire in the 103 Mile area.

“There were two structures and a vehicle that were in close proximity and threatened by the fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief, Brandon Bougie. “Once crews arrived on scene the fire was quickly knocked down and overhaul was conducted.”

According to Bougie, the incident started from a small backyard fire that got away from the resident due to strong winds.

The fire was burning an area of approximately 50′ x 100′. 100 Mile House Fire Rescue attended the scene with two apparatus and eight firefighters along with mutual aid from the 108 Mile Volunteer Fire Department.

“100 Mile House Fire department would like to remind everyone to be careful when conducting any type of burning and to follow the requirements set out by BC Wildfire Service,” said Bougie.
