“100 Mile Fire Rescue responded to a chimney fire on Sept. 17 up on Horse Lake Road North. We responded with 10 members, it was a working chimney fire,” said Fire Chief Roger Hollander.
The chimney fire was extinguished before it could spread anywhere else in the house and there were no injuries.
“100 Mile Fire Rescue would like to remind the public to clean their chimney especially before starting them up for the first time in the season. Also, have it inspected by a qualified inspector so you’re able to make sure there are cracks in the liner or other issues such as bird nests or other animal nests that could cause a fire and that’s obviously something we want to prevent,” said Hollander.
