100 Mile RCMP responded to 137 complaints and calls for service during the past week.
Traffic complaints
Police responded to 29 traffic complaints during the past week, which is unusually high for the area.
With this information in mind, 100 Mile House RCMP and 100 Mile House Traffic Services conducted roving and static checks and 150 violation stops were conducted.
Warnings or violation tickets were issued at each stop with drivers being educated on the dangers of speed and aggressive driving, as well as the affects of not using occupant restraints.
Boating hazard
On Aug. 5 at 3:16 p.m., 100 Mile House RCMP were called to Sheridan Lake for the complaint of a large pleasure craft operating dangerously by travelling at high speeds near the shore and close to swimmers.
Police conducted patrols of the lake with the police boat and checked several pleasure craft. Written warnings were issued to people for not operating with Operator Card and for not having the proper safety equipment on board.
The dangerous boater was not located. Investigation into this matter is still ongoing.
Motorcycle mishap
On Aug. 5 at 6:54 p.m., police were called to Dempsey Lake Road, near Forest Grove, for the complaint of a motorcycle/pickup truck incident.
Police and BC Ambulance Services personnel attended to the scene. Investigation revealed a motorcycle was travelling along the roadway and struck a parked pickup truck. The rider, a 21-year-old Lower Mainland resident, sustained a broken wrist and broken forearm on each arm.
Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision. Investigation into this matter is still ongoing.
Failed breathalyzer
On Aug. 4 at 8:28 p.m., 100 Mile House Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 97 near Easzee Drive in 108 Mile Ranch.
The driver, a 19-year-old male from Langley, displayed signs impairment. An approved screening device (ASD) was administered and he blew a “fail.”
The driver was issued a violation ticket for speed and a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP). The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Officer assaulted
On Aug. 4 at 9:20 p.m. 100 Mile House RCMP received several complaints about a male causing a disturbance and threatening citizens at Deka Lake.
Police were given a description of the male and his associated vehicle. While conducting patrols, a member located the vehicle in question, which was being driven by a female.
She displayed signs of liquor impairment. The female was administered an ASD and blew a “Warn.” The 36-year-old 100 Mile House woman was given a three-day IRP and her vehicle was also seized for three days.
Her male passenger was identified as the man threatening campers at Deka Lake. He was intoxicated and was arrested roadside for causing a disturbance and was transported back to the detachment.
As he was being booked into cells, he became combative with police and assaulted a police officer. Police are recommending assault on a police officer charges against the 42-year-old Lone Butte man.
Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
Public mischief
On Aug. 3 at 8:20 a.m., 100 Mile House RCMP were called to the arena on Airport Road in 100 Mile House for the complaint of mischief to property.
Investigation revealed several youth had smashed the windows, tagged the buildings with obscene words and drawings and caused damage to the grounds. Three youth and one adult were arrested for mischief under $5,000. The suspects’ guardians and the arena staff were advised of the damages.
The suspects cleaned up the damage on site under the supervision of arena staff, and the investigation is ongoing.
Vehicle fire
On Aug. 3 at 1:45 p.m., police were called to assist 108 Mile Ranch Volunteer Fire Department with a car fire on Highway 97 near 108 Mile.
The driver was travelling from Prince George and experienced problems with the electrical system in the vehicle and pulled over as he smelled smoke and the vehicle started on fire. The vehicle was destroyed due to the fire.
No one was injured in the incident.
Stranded boater
On Aug. 3 at 10:38 p.m., 100 Mile House RCMP received information from Clearwater RCMP that a boater was in distress on Mahood Lake.
The boat operator was out alone on the lake for the day when he encountered engine failure several kilometres down the lake. The man used a satellite phone to call for help and reached the Clearwater RCMP.
100 Mile House RCMP took charge of the case as Mahood Lake falls within its jurisdiction. South Cariboo Search and Rescue was mobilized and attended the lake and located the male after only a few hours of searching.
The 37-year-old Prince George man was tired and cold from rowing all night, but was unharmed.
Help sought
Sometime over the long weekend suspect(s) entered a log-home manufacturer on Tatton Station Road in 105 Mile and stole several power tools, including chain saws, scribers and sanders.
The total value of the items is estimated around $12,000.

Purse theft
On Aug. 2 at 11:41 a.m., 100 Mile House RCMP received the complaint of theft from a vehicle parked in the 900 Block of Alder Ave.
A purse and contents were taken from the vehicle. Police located and arrested the suspect.
Charges of theft under $5,000 are being recommended against the 34-year-old 100 Mile House woman.
On July 31 at 4:59 p.m., 100 Mile House RCMP, 100 Mile House Traffic Services and Clinton RCMP received several 9-1-1 calls of a motorcycle collision near 83 Mile on Highway 97.
Both detachments responded and located a single male rider who was thrown from his motorcycle near 81 Mile. Investigation revealed the rider had missed the corner and struck the ditch and was ejected from his motorcycle.
He suffered a broken hand, broken foot and broken ribs due to the collision. The 48-year-old Kelowna man was also investigated for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
He refused to provide samples and was charged with refusing to provide a sample. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
