Between Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 the 100 Mile House RCMP responded to 70 calls for service and have provided some of the highlights.
Dec. 8
RCMP were called to a report of semi truck and trailer off the road on Highway 97 near Maze Lake Road.
Members attended and found that the truck had gradually gone off pavement and onto the shoulder. The driver was unable to correct and went into the ditch.
The driver did not sustain injuries however the truck did sustain damage. Distracted driving is believed to have been a factor.
Dec. 9
RCMP received a report of a theft of solar yard lights from a residence on the 5000 block of Kallum Drive. The incident is believed to have taken place the night before.
Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services, North District Traffic Services and Commercial Vehicle SafetyEnforcement with assistance from the Alexa Bus conducted several check stops in the 100 Mile House area. Over 400 vehicles were checked. There were two 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions issued to two drivers for providing a fail reading on a breath test, several violation tickets issued for offences including no insurance, and no driver’s license.
There were also violation tickets and notices issued for safety defects and log book violations on commercial vehicles.
RCMP were called to a report of a vehicle collision on Highway 24 near Lac Des Roche.
Members attended and found a vehicle over an embankment with no one around. The vehicle was found to be stolen from Little Fort earlier that day. After receiving information from the the public the male driver of the vehicle was located at a residence nearby. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property and found to be in contravention of several probation conditions relating to other property offences in the McBride area.
The 25-year-old male resident of Clinton was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court in Williams Lake on Dec. 14.
Charges of possession of stolen property, possession of break in instruments, and several counts of breach of probation conditions were proposed.
Dec. 12
RCMP received a report of damage to a light pole near the Canim Lake Band Office. Sometime over the weekend it is believed a vehicle was driving erratically and sheered the pole off. There should be substantial damage to the vehicle that was involved.
