100 Mile House RCMP responded to 61 complaints and calls for service during the past week. Below are highlights of the week’s calls.

Driver air-lifted

On July 4, 100 Mile House RCMP and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle incident on Highway 24 at Roe Lake.

The driver of a red Chevrolet Cavalier crossed the centreline and hit an oncoming pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer.

The male driver of the Cavalier suffered undetermined injuries and was air-lifted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

The two occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.

Both vehicles were damaged significantly and they were towed from the scene. The investigation into this collision is continuing.

Drinking driver

On July 4, investigators from Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services were conducting speed enforcement on Horse Lake Road in 100 Mile House, when a 2005 Toyota Tundra was observed being operated in excess of the speed limit.

Once the vehicle was stopped, it was determined there was no insurance on the truck. The male driver also displayed symptoms of liquor consumption.

An approved screening device was administered at the scene and the result was a fail. A second test was requested and the result was also a fail.

The driver met the established criteria and was, therefore, issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

Confused driver

On July 2, 100 Mile RCMP responded to several reports of a dangerous driver on Highway 97 travelling south from Lac la Hache.

A vehicle description and plate number were provided and it was intercepted just north of 100 Mile House on Highway 97.

When stopped, the elderly male driver was unsure of his location. He was transported to 100 Mile District General Hospital for treatment of a medical condition. Charges in this instance were not pursued; however, the male’s driver’s licence was seized pending a medical review.
