One man was taken into custody following the discovery of more than 100 kilograms of suspected cocaine in a northbound commercial truck last month.
According to a news release issued by Canada Border Services Agency Monday afternoon, the incident occurred at the Pacific Highway border in South Surrey on Oct. 21.
During a search of a commercial vehicle, border services officers found “numerous bricks of a white, powdered substance among a shipment of rice,” the release states.
The bricks – with a combined weight of 107.5 kg – were seized and, along with the driver, turned over to RCMP.
The driver’s age, gender and hometown were not disclosed.
Investigation is ongoing.
