VICTORIA – Nechako Lakes School District (SD 91) will receive a total of $1,344,828 from the B.C. government School Enhancement Program for various facilities improvement and school enhancement in our district.

The $1,3 million for SD 91 comprises of $653,144 for five 76-passenger buses, $211,134 for student learning grants and $480,550 to upgrade dust collection systems and exterior walls at Fraser Lake Elementary Secondary and W.L. McLeod Elementary.

This funding is part of the total $95 million the province is allocating to every school district across B.C. to help extend the life of facilities through upgrades, put new supplies in classrooms and buy new school buses.

“I can’t wait to hear what exciting new learning resources will be coming to B.C. classrooms for next school year as a result of the new Student Learning Grant.

Districts will be talking to teachers and parents to determine how they can best use the one-time funding to help bring the new curriculum to life and cut costs for families throughout the province” said Mike Bernier, Minister of Education.
