The RCMP say speed may have been a factor in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 97 South near 141 Mile House.

The accident occurred Thursday, Aug. 4 at approximately 9:08 p.m. The collision involved a northbound 2007 Pontiac G5 occupied by a male driver, female passenger and a four-year-old child and a 2011 Dodge three-quarter ton pick-up truck towing an empty horse trailer occupied by a male driver.

According to the RCMP, the car collided with the pick- up truck as the truck was making a left turn from the passing lane of Highway 97 North.

The truck was struck at the rear axle and sustained severe damage. The car was also damaged. The female passenger sustained a broken ankle and the child received minor abrasions to the facial area.

The driver of the car sustained a minor chest injury. The driver of the truck was not injured. Alcohol was not a factor; however, speed of the car was determined to be the cause of the collision.
