18-year-old in custody after Halloween robbery

Shortly before 8:30pm on October 31, Quesnel RCMP received a report of an armed robbery.

Investigation determined that an 18-year-old male suspect approached a couple walking in the 200 block of St. Laurent Avenue and demanded money

The suspect produced a can of bear spray and sprayed the male victim before fleeing on foot toward the footbridge where he assaulted two additional male victims with the bear spray.

The 18- year-old Quesnel male was arrested minutes later in the area of North Fraser Drive and the footbridge.

The male is in police custody awaiting his first appearance in court later today (Nov. 1). Police are recommending charges of assault with a weapon, robbery and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
