As a result of a fire in the park last November, staff members completed a hazard assessment and determined that several already compromised trees were damaged.

The park has been closed to the public since the fire and before it can be considered safe, the affected trees require mitigated measures, read the release.

Given the specialized nature of the tree work and available resources, the work was scheduled for completion in early 2021. Once the work is complete, the park will reopen for community use.
