The former Clinton Jamboree Committee has reluctantly pulled the plug on the 2011 Clinton Country Jamboree.
The former members of the committee had all resigned but they offered to assist anyone who took it on. No one came forward.
After 11 years of country music in Reg Conn Centennial Park, there will be no Clinton Country Jamboree in 2011.
Ashcroft hosts Okanagan Valley B-Ball Finals
The Sr. Girls Rams basketball team from Ashcroft Secondary School has been on a winning rampage!
The Rams’ season began in November and after more than 20 games played, they were ranked fourth in the province.
Last week the Rams finished first in the zone finals which won them the right to host the Okanagan Valley Finals. The Okanagan Valley Finals is an eight team tournament including the best in the Okanagan Valley.
In March they advanced to the Provincial A Basketball Championships in Sparwood and finished with a record of three wins and one loss, but ended up in 9th place.
SD 74 still most vulnerable district in BC
Besides having the fastest declining enrolment in BC, School District 74 also has the dubious title of the most vulnerable district in the province.
The district’s Early Learning co-ordinator, Stephanie Johnson, told the district’s Education Committee on Feb. 8 that the percentage of vulnerable children had decreased by a fraction since last year, but it was still well over 40 per cent.
The province uses an Early Development Index (EDI) which measures five different areas: Physical Health and Well Being; Social Competence; Emotional Maturity; Language and Cognitive Development; and Communication Skills and General Knowledge.
Loon Lake man faces weapons and drug charges
RCMP conducted a search warrant at Loon Lake Lodge on Feb. 23, seizing illicit drugs, illegal firearms and cash. One man and a woman were arrested and detained.
RCMP from Clinton, Lillooet, Ashcroft Detachment Traffic Services, Kamloops Police Dog Roving Unit and Traffic Services helped to carry out the warrant execution on the lodge and lakeside cabins resort on Loon Lake.
In the main residence, police located and seized a loaded sawed off double barreled 12 gauge shotgun, an unsecured 410 shotgun, drug trafficking paraphernalia, including a scale, a money counter, a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine, and a very large quantity of prescription pills.
Over one ounce of marijuana bud was found stored in a freezer in the lodge’s grocery store, and several pills, marijuana and a large amount of cash were seized from the dwelling house.
Twenty-one guns in total and ammunition were seized from the dwelling house.
