A 29-year-old man has passed away after an ATV accident on a forest service road outside Hope Tuesday night.

Police, ambulance, search and rescue and fire crews were on scene Tuesday, August 4 of the crash on a forest service road past Union Bar Road. The accident claimed the life of Jonathan Mayers, a Gofundme page later confirmed.

“A horrific ATV accident has taken this man from his family,” the fundraising page stated.

The page confirms Mayers was 29 years old, and owned his own roofing company. “He was the most amazing father and husband, he had a heart full of gold, he worked hard everyday,” the page stated. Mayers leaves behind his wife and young children, boys aged 1 and 2.

Staff Sergeant Karol Redhner with the Hope RCMP said the fatal accident is under investigation, at this point there is no indication of criminality.

Fire chief Tom DeSorcy said fire crews attended the scene, shortly after attending to a single vehicle accident along Highway 1 west of exit 170. Three trucks attended, he added, as well as search and rescue, ambulance and police.
