A section of Highway 20 near Riske Creek will be resurfaced this summer.
The province announced a contract worth more than $3.9 million has been awarded to Peters Bros Construction Ltd. to complete the work.
“This stretch of Highway 20 is an important corridor for both tourism and the forest industry and these improvements will ensure a safer commute for drivers,” said MLA Donna Barnett.
“People from Williams Lake and all over the Cariboo-Chilcotin region are going to notice a huge improvement when this work is done.”
The project uses a cold in place of recycling pavement rehabilitation, which reuses materials and minimizes the need to haul and transport, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The project starts 56 kilometres west of Williams Lake and is expected to be complete by September. During project work traffic will be limited to single-lane alternating traffic.
