Four new cases reported in latest data

Agassiz-Harrison has seen a few more cases of COVID than usual, according to the latest data.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has reported four new cases of COVID-19. While not the biggest spike this year, it is the most cases the area has seen since mid-June.

This averages to 5.3 cases per week for the year with 175 total in 2021.

As of Aug. 23, 77 per cent of residents over the age of 12 have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (no change since last update); 69 per cent have received their second dose (up 1 per cent).

As of Aug. 26, the BCCDC has added the 12-17 demographic to its vaccination data. 58 per cent of 12-17-year-olds have received the first dose; 48 percent have received both doses. This age group has the lowest local vaccination rate by an average of 7 per cent.

79 per cent of Agassiz-Harrison residents aged 18 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine (no change from last update); 71 per cent are fully vaccinated. In the 18-49 demographic, 66 per cent have received at least one dose (no change from last update) and 55 per cent are fully vaccinated (up 1 per cent).

The 50-plus demographic continues to have the highest rate of vaccination at 87 per cent receiving their first dose and 82 per cent being fully vaccinated (no change from last update.
