Edwin Douglas Jones was crossing the street shortly after 7 a.m. when an RV turned and hit him. The driver stayed on scene.

“They had to lift the vehicle right off of his chest,” said Eric Jones, Edwin’s brother. “He has quite a few injuries. He has a lot of broken bones. Both legs had to be operated on, and his left wrist and ribs are broken as well. He’s not doing well.”

Edwin has been under sedation for two days, so Jones has not yet been able to speak with him.

“Right now it’s definitely a waiting game,” Jones said. “But I just really would like to thank the first responders who attended the scene.”

Jones said police are still looking for any witnesses to the accident.

Anyone with information can call the VicPD non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 or call anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
