5th Street Bridge Project in Courtenay on schedule

Traffic management and detours are working smoothly as intended

Scaffolding installation is a little behind schedule, but the City of Courtenay says the 5th Street Bridge Project is still on track to be completed on time in mid-October.

Traffic management and detours are working smoothly as intended. The project team has been fine-tuning signage, line painting and traffic light synchronization to maximize traffic flow and address issues as they appear.

The city will continue to share progress updates and interesting facts, and conduct public education throughout the bridge project.

“It’s a very large and complex project so there will be lots of news to share going forward,” the city said in a statement. “We’re also working on ways to show support for our downtown merchants and encouraging the community to shop local.”
