A seven-year-old reported missing while on a camping trip with his 62-year-old grandfather in the Chilliwack Lake area was found early Friday morning.
“They were not missing, just overdue,” RCMP Cpl. Dale Carr, acting regional duty NCO for the Upper Fraser Valley detachment, said Friday.
Carr said anxious family members in Aldergrove called police at about 10 p.m. Thursday when the pair did not return as planned.
But apparently there were having so much fun camping, they decided to stay an extra night but had no way of contacting the family. The Chilliwack Lake area is out of cellphone range.
“They were driving back into Chilliwack,” Carr said, when he saw the grandfather’s truck coming toward him on Chilliwack Lake Road at about 9:30 a.m.
“I whipped around and caught up to them,” he said.
“The seven-year-old was all smiles and had a good time camping with Grandpa.”
