Polar Bear Dip in Kelowna

Polar Bear Dip in Kelowna

A brisk way to bring in the New Year

Swimmers in Peachland and Kelowna took to the chilly waters of Okanagan Lake New Years day.

More than 100 brave souls dipped into Okanagan Lake in Peachland as a brisk way to ring in the New Year.

The water was a chilly 2.2 C, while outside the temperature hovered around 5 C, serving as a good wake up call for the participants of the annual Polar Bear Dip.

Peachland Mayor Cindy Fortin even tempted the icy waters for her third year in a row.

β€œIt is a great way to bring in the New Year, invigorate you and get you going,” said Fortin. β€œI love doing it.”

Okanagan Lake was a busy place to be up and down the valley, as Polar Bear Dips were also held in Summerland, Penticton and Kelowna.
