Like to know more about lasagna beds and hugelkultur? Now’s your chance at the Kwalikum Food Forest behind Kwalikum Secondary School.
Garden organizers are hosting a tour at 2 p.m. and workshop at 3 p.m. on “lasagna” beds, an easy sheet mulch method, this Sunday, July 26.
“Come and explore the gardens, learn about some of the wild edible foods and learn some great ecological tips for your own garden,” said Madeleine Dwyer.
On August 22 Robin Ayn, Forrest Carson and Dwyer will host a two and a half hour workshop on hugelkultur, a form of wood mound gardening. For $25 (or pay what you can) people will get hands-on experience with unique and productive garden beds that get better over time and use local resources that require minimal fertilization and water.
