Main photo: A tree rests close to a house next to Lodge Drive in Clearwater following a windstorm early Tuesday evening. The home’s occupants were not home at the time of the windstorm. With the power out when they got home, it was so dark that they did not realize the tree was down until they encountered branches as they climbed the steps to the front door on the second floor.
Below: Photo taken from a different angle gives an idea of how close the tree came to hitting the house. Many other trees came down during the storm in the Clearwater, Vavenby, Blackpool and Little Fort areas, as well as in Wells Gray Park. According to BC Hydro, 210,000 customers lost power in the southern Interior, Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
