May 15, 2018

• Police were called to assist with illegal campers in Crawford Bay.

• Police received a complaint of shots fired near Erickson, but no one was found and no further calls came in.

• Police were called to intervene in a family dispute fuelled by alcohol in Creston. Once the parties were separated, no further issues arose.

May 16, 2018

• Police were called to investigate and assist East Kootenay Traffic Services with a single-vehicle collision near Erickson in which one female died at the scene.

• Police were called to investigate a suspected mischief involving an ongoing neighbour dispute.

• Police were called to a report of harassment involving a separate ongoing neighbour dispute.

May 17, 2018

• Police were called to investigate a potential mischief involving a mooring line being cut on Kootenay Lake resulting in the complainant’s boat being set adrift.

• A vehicle stop for erratic driving on Canyon Street resulted in the impaired driver being charged, having her vehicle impounded, and the driver spending the night in police cells.

May 18, 2018

• Police were called to a complaint of an impaired driver leaving a local business. After reviewing video, and identifying the suspect, the investigation continues and charges are being considered.

• Police responded to a 911 call at a residence in Creston. Upon arrival, the two highly intoxicated residents had no idea why they called 911, but stated that they were fine.

• Upon investigating the sound of squealing tires on 16th Ave in Creston, police found a drinking driver who had also been driving contrary to his licence restrictions. The driver received a 90-day licence suspension, a 7-day vehicle impound, and violation tickets for his driving and failure to follow licence restrictions.

May 19, 2018

• Police were called to assist with a distraught male and accompany him to the hospital.

• Police were called to intervene in a neighbor dispute involving trespassing in Crawford Bay.

• Police were called to investigate a hit and run in Erickson.

• Police were called to intervene in an argument on the street involving a number of intoxicated individuals. All parties went their separate ways, and no further issues arose.

May 20, 2018

• Police were called to assist with a horse that was running free on Highway 3A.

• Police received a call of a habitual impaired driver in Lister. Patrols were made, but the suspect was not found driving.

• Police were called to intervene in a neighbour dispute regarding reports of trespassing in Kootenay Bay.

• Police conducted a Check stop on Highway 3A near Wynndel. Approximately 35 vehicles were checked, and no impaired drivers were found.

• Police were called to a noisy party complaint in Kitchener.

May 21, 2018

• Police were called to intervene in a family dispute in Creston. Alcohol was a contributing factor. All parties were separated to avoid any further issues.

• Police were called to the same parties again regarding another dispute between a couple.

• Police were called to intervene in a neighbour dispute in Kitchener. After discussion the parties became agreeable.

• Police were called to locate a possible impaired driver who had been witnessed drinking beer all day and then driving. The driver was located but was found not to be impaired since the driver only drinks non-alcoholic beer.

• Police were called to a suspicious male washing his truck with urine in the parking lot of a local hotel. Upon police arrival, the male advised that he did not have to talk to police as he was a senior official with CSIS. Although concerning, after lengthy discussion, police determined that the male was not a danger to himself or anyone else and was allowed to depart for his home community.
