A new exhibition opened on Saturday at the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery.
The Study of Nature series of paintings by Lower Mainland artist Eric Hotz will be on display, and it includes 10 new pieces which have not yet been shown to the public. The gallery calls them “pieces inspired by explorations of many outlying regional parks, lakes, streams, forests and mountains.”
Hotz writes: “The focus of my art is the exploration of local natural history and Biophilia. Over the last two-and-half years, I have been traveling up to two hours from where I live, seeking out new inspiration for my art. I have explored many outlying regional parks for their lakes, streams, forests, and mountains. Within a two-hour drive, I can be walking above the tree line in an alpine meadow above the clouds, or walking along a sandy ocean shoreline strewn in fog. The Vancouver Regional District is uniquely positioned close to many diverse ecosystems. The beauty of nature is only a short drive away, waiting to be discovered and turned into art.”

The gallery is open with a maximum occupancy and other safety measures to observe COVID-19 health orders.
The work by Hotz is also available online. The art will be on display until May 16.
