Abbotsford Arts Council presents annual Arty Awards

Recipients were named in 14 categories on Saturday at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium

The 11th annual Arty Awards reception was held Saturday night at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford, honouring recipients in the local arts community.

Awards were presented in 14 categories, and the recipients were:

• Performing Arts (Music) – Chad Joiner;

• Performing Arts (Theatre) – Mary Boonstra;

• Performing Arts (Dance) – Nicholas Hasenpflug;

• Visual Arts (2 Dimensional) – Riley Charters;

•Visual Arts (3 Dimensional) – Dean Lauze;

• Visual Arts (Digital Arts) – Laura Vanderwel;

• Literary Arts – Surjeet Kalsey;

• Christine Caldwell Outstanding Arts Advocate – Ryan Huston;

• Outstanding Artist, elementary school – Greta Loewen;

• Outstanding Artist, secondary school – Nicki Meier;

• Outstanding Artist, post-secondary – Julie Epp;

• Outstanding Arts Organization – Abbotsford Downtown Business Association;

• Culinary Arts – Wim Tas; and

• Lifetime Achievement Award – Manjit Singh Sandhu.
