An Abbotsford man faces eight charges for alleged sex assaults on two women who were selling massage services.

Const. Ian MacDonald said Abbotsford Police investigated a Feb. 27 incident involving a 30-year-old Abbotsford man, and that led them to a second incident that happened on Feb. 1.

Both women were contacted through listings on Craigslist, both went to his apartment, were not permitted to leave and were sexually assaulted, police allege.

The accused is in custody, appearing in Abbotsford Provincial Court on Wednesday. Abbotsford police recommended four charges in each case, two each of forcible confinement, uttering threats, assault and sexual assault.

MacDonald said the accused intimated to the women that he had a weapon in each case.

“It’s important to commend the bravery of the women who came forward to work with police to see this man is held accountable for his actions, and do their part to safeguard other women,” said MacDonald.
