An Abbotsford man has received a five-year jail term for two child sexual offences.

Jonathan Grunwald, 53, was sentenced Thursday in Abbotsford provincial court on charges of sexual interference and making child pornography.

Three other charges – invitation to sexual touching, possession of child porn and sexual assault of a person under 16 – were stayed.

Grunwald was arrested and charged in August 2015 after the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) received a laptop that had been purchased through an online advertisement.

The new owner found disturbing images on the computer and contacted police.

APD investigators examined the laptop and found images of child sexual abuse. They then located Grunwald, the former owner of the computer.

At the time of Grunwald’s arrest, police indicated that the child victim who had been identified was safe, and support had been provided for the child and his/her family.

Police did not release specific details of the crimes.
