Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun slid a black and red t-shirt over his dress shirt on Thursday afternoon and in so doing showed his support for both the families of the stabbing victims earlier this month and the Abbotsford Senior Secondary community.

The Abby Strong campaign is selling t-shirts and stickers to support the family of Letisha Reimer, who died in a stabbing attack, and that of her best friend, who was injured in the same attack and cannot be named due to a court-ordered publication ban.

The shirts and stickers also act as visible signs of solidarity throughout the city.

“This is a way for the city to come together to put our collective arms around the two families that suffered this tragedy,” said Braun.

Braun said that being a graduate of Abbotsford Senior made the tragic event hit that much closer to home.

But he said he has been encouraged by the outpouring of support he has seen in the community.

“I am very proud of our city and our citizens,” he said.
