The Abbotsford Police Foundation’s annual Crime is Toast – Breakfast with the Chief fundraiser is going virtual this year.
The sixth annual event, which is normally held at Tradex in Abbotsford each year, takes place online via Zoom video-conferencing on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The free event celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) and the 25th anniversary of the Abbotford Police Department (APD).
Chief Mike Serr will share information about the work of the APD and address topics that residents are most interested in hearing about.
The APF is a charitable organization that funds APD community programs and the purchase of specialized equipment not covered by its operating budget.

Projects supported by the APF in past years have included Kevlar vests for police service dogs, a vintage police cruiser, a John Deere “Gator” ATV, and a training simulator.
A total of $100,000 has been raised by the APF since its inception in 2005.
APF president Kevin Boonstra said the organization is grateful for the community’s generosity.
“In these challenging times, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to our community. Your continued support will help ensure crucial community policing initiatives continue,” he said.
